The City of Sutherlin, Oregon, operates by Charter, under a Council-Manager form of Government. Sutherlin has an elected Mayor and six Councilors who guide the City and legislate Ordinances. The Council President is appointed by Council and in the absence of the Mayor will step in to take over his/her duties. The city is administered by a City Manager, who is appointed by the City Council.
The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in the Civic Auditorium, 175 E. Everett Avenue, which is directly behind City Hall. These meetings are open to the public and our citizens are invited and encouraged to attend. The second meeting of the month is normally a workshop meeting. All meetings are recorded and can be found on this website. You will also find the Council Packets, and minutes from the meetings. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you are interested in speaking with the Council and wish to be placed on the agenda please notify the City Recorder's office no later than the Monday prior to the next scheduled meeting. You can also have an opportunity to speak in the 'Citizen Comment' portion of the council meeting. There is a form we'd like you to fill out prior to the meeting which is available at the meeting, pick up one from City Hall, or click on this link. A three minute time limit applies.
